Cheers to 15 Years

Celebrating 15 Years of AK Tie Dye: A Rad Journey of Color, Creativity, and Community

Fifteen years ago, a chance encounter at a street fair in Mountain View sparked a journey that transformed my life. The tie-dyed pillowcase I made and brought home was the first thing I ever remember dyeing. I started dyeing almost everything I could and decided to start my own business. My entrepreneurial mind was tickled, and it honestly didn't feel like work (for a long time anyway). My uncle placed an order for uniforms for his crew, and that investment in my art business was the jumping-off point I needed.

Fifteen years have passed since that time, and I'm excited to celebrate this milestone in 2025! Join in as we take a colorful stroll down memory lane, appreciate the artistry that has defined our journey, and look forward to a future filled with even more creativity and inspiration. I am inviting all my friends, customers, and students to submit any stories or photos of our connections. Please post here, message me, or email me at aktiedye@gmail.com. I will be sharing some selected histories in a new blog series on my website and sharing on social media this summer.

I really appreciate my customers who put up with me (lol) being here or there and seek out AK Tie Dye.
I may have said I was retiring from holiday shows, but I guess I changed my mind because I am going to be setting up at several of my favorite shows in the next couple months. Please stay tuned dates and details in next month's newsletter.
